Why it works
Adult acne isn't bacteria alone — it's a three-part problem: inflammation deep in the skin, a compromised barrier that lets in irritants, and hormonal signalling that ramps up sebum. Standard "acne" shelves target only one lever, usually with harsh drying agents that punish the barrier further. Who is it for?
Adults 20-55 with cyclical breakouts, hormonal acne, congested chin/jaw, post-pill acne, or clients who've been over-treated with retinoids and drying spot treatments. Also suitable for teen breakouts when combined with our Teen Clarifying Treatment approach.
Realistic results timeline
Most clients see a visible calm-down after the first session. Sustained clarity usually takes 4-8 weeks of consistent in-clinic treatment (every 3-4 weeks initially) alongside a tailored Murad home routine. Deep congestion and long-standing inflammation take longer — often 3-6 months.
Aftercare
Skip active ingredients (retinol, high-strength acids) for 48 hours. Use a gentle hydrating cleanser and a barrier-repair moisturiser. SPF 30+ is non-negotiable the following morning. Avoid gym, saunas and swimming pools for 24 hours to protect freshly-treated skin.
